The 3rd Grade Students made Book Talks last year on the Media Center's iPads.
This is a 'first' project to gain experience using the iPads for videos and to write Book Talks.
They did the following:
1. Read their book
2. Outlined the book talk using a form. They wrote a few sentences about the beginning, middle, and end of the book. They wrote a few sentences about the author's message. They wrote a few sentences about how the main characters felt.
3. They wrote the book talk using the form. Introduction, summary of plot, and either the author's message or main characters' feelings, and a recommendation at the end.
4. They practiced and practiced with a partner.
5. They videotaped the book talk with a partner.
I thought they did a great job! They spent time thinking about the book, they wrote good outlines, they practiced a lot, and they were good videographers. They seemed to really enjoy this project, and we will do it again, using longer and more complicated books.
I will post all of them as they become available.
Enjoy!
